Dear USTEAA (USA),
Another semester have passed and I would like to say again, my undying and sincerest "thank you" to the association for the continuance of the USTEAA scholarship.
This semester was the toughest semester that I’ve been through. It is because of the subjects, Probability and Statistics and Elementary Electrical Engineering. Statistics is, as they say, a not-so-hard subject but still, I have to read books about the subject’s basic topics since I do not have any background of it during my high school years. Elementary Electrical Engineering is definitely my waterloo. Even during 2nd year, 2nd semester in Physics 2, our last topic was about electric circuits then, I already find it difficult. I understand circuits somehow, specially the basic and complex calculations, but then as we go along the waveforms and other AC characterizations, I just could not get all of it. I have tried hard and gave lots of extra effort but then… I guess it was really not my forte. But I am proud to say that I did my best and gave it justice.
I wish to tell that even if this semester was difficult for me,
I strived hard to have it well done, although it was far not as good as the
previous semester. Still, I am assuring the association that my remaining school
years, which really are the major years, will be the most fruitful. I know it is
hard keeping a promise but I am reassuring the association that being a Civil
Engineer and finishing the program at the UST Faculty of Engineering with the
USTEAA’s assistance is my dream and hopefully, with the all
the best that I
can give and the association's trust, I can make it come true.
Below, I am presenting my 3rd year, 2nd semester grades which I
copied at

Dear Engr. Ciocon,
Greetings of Peace!
I wish to inform that I am already graduating this 5th of April 2008. The USTEAA (USA)’s Scholarship Grant has been the most precious gift that I have received as a student. Thank you so much for the continuous financial support the association has given me.
Secondly, the following are the information that I have gathered for the preparation of the Memorandum of Agreement with the UST for the new scholarship grant:
1. Cost of current tuition per semester.
I have attached the file, that is, for the school year 2007-2008: Second Semester.
2. Name of current Vice Rector for Finance at UST and his/her e-mail address if available
Rev. Fr. Manuel F. Roux, OP
3. Name of current Office of Student Affairs (OSA) scholarship grants coordinator/director and his/her e-mail address if available
Dr. Cristina Castro-Cabral
4. Name of the Dean’s secretary, if there is one and his/her e-mail address if available
Engr. Evangeline E. Deleña
I also would like to take this opportunity to inform the association that I have been accepted to Laing O’rourke Company at Dubai. To just summarize the event: Two of their employees went to the university to give us, UST civil engineering students, a background of the company and that same day, they told us that whoever is interested can go to the next level of their admission. They grouped us and each group was given a topic and each student will voice out their ideas. Fortunately, I was one of the students that was chosen, and from our group, I was also picked for interview that very same day. Then, days after the interview, our Dean informed me that the company is interested of having me as one of their trainees. I also have attached the letter they sent me, and the others, whom they chose to train and eventually work at their company at Dubai.
Due to the sudden opportunity, I and the rest of my batch mates that were chosen, will be having our review/refresher this April and eventually take the May CE licensure board examination.
I would like to really thank the association for serving as an inspiration. And rest assured that I will always write and inform the USTEAA (USA). May you continue to help students in need of financial support who has the potential and that ambition to be Thomasian Engineers.
Thank you very much and God bless.
Respectfully yours,
